Police bust motorcycle shop near Kangar for alleged drug activities

KANGAR, April 15 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Using a motorcycle workshop as a front for drug-related activities in Kampung Permatang Keriang, Kuala Sanglang near here failed to fool the police who raided the premises, nabbing a suspected drug distributor and customer.

In the 5.40 pm raid yesterday, police also seized a plastic packet containing 51 grammes of crystal lumps suspected to be syabu and RM1,159 in the workshop’s office, said Kangar district deputy police chief DSP Mohd Anuar Jusoh.

Initial investigations revealed the drug distributor, who was also a motorcycle mechanic, had been actively using the space in his office to process drugs.

Both the 31-year-old drug distributor and his 28-year-old customer tested positive for the drug methamphetamine,” he said.

Mohd Anuar said the mechanic also had a previous drug-related criminal record.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and both suspects have been remanded for seven days starting today.
