UN To Launch Waste Treatment Project In Iran: Envoy

TEHRAN, Apr 13 (NNN-MNA) – The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) will launch a hospital waste treatment project in Iran, Iran’s permanent representative to the Vienna-based international organisation, Kazem Gharibabadi, said on Sunday.

The environment-friendly project is to be implemented amid the country’s battle against the outbreak of COVID-19, Gharibabadi, said.

The Iranian envoy put the value of the project at one million euros (1.09 million U.S. dollars).

UNIDO is a specialised agency of the United Nations that assists nations in growing and developing industry, to reduce poverty. It is headquartered at the UN Office in Vienna, Austria, and is a member of the United Nations Development Group.

Since 2013, UNIDO’s mission has expanded to include promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development, defined as benefiting greater numbers of people, while safeguarding the environment.– NNN-MNA
