Jordan To Seal Off Entrances To Capital, Over Covid-19 Fear

AMMAN, Mar 19 (NNN-XINHUA) – The Jordanian armed forces, said that, all entrances to the capital, Amman, will be sealed off starting today (Thursday), as the number of COVID-19 cases in the country hit 52.

Only authorised personnel will be allowed to enter the capital, the army said, in a statement, carried by state-run Petra news agency.

Earlier in the day, Jordan’s Tourism Ministry said in a statement that a total of 1,900 people who arrived in the country over the past two days were placed in quarantine in Dead Sea’s hotels, while another 3,000 are staying in Amman’s hotels.

Jordanian officials called on the public not to stock up on food, as the reserve is enough for around one year.

On Tuesday, Jordan enacted a defense law to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
