Another Five Nations See COVID-19 Local Transmission

GENEVA, Mar 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Additional five countries — the Philippines, New Zealand, Ireland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia — have seen local transmission of COVID-19, according to the daily situation report on COVID-19 released by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Friday evening.

Compared to the previous day, the transmission classification of those five countries have been revised from “imported cases only” to “local transmission,” making the total number of countries and regions where local transmission emerged to 41.

A total of 98,192 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported globally as of 10:00 CET Friday, which marked an increase of 2,873 infections, compared to the previous day, according to the report.

Outside China, a total of 88 countries and regions have reported 17,481 confirmed cases, 2,727 more than the previous day. Sixty-nine more people died of COVID-19, bringing the total deaths to 335.

Bhutan, Cameroon, Serbia and South Africa have reported cases of COVID-19 for the first time in the past 24 hours, as of Friday morning, according to the report.– NNN-AGENCIES
