Iraq Suspends Schools For 10 Days Over COVID-19

BAGHDAD, Feb 27 (NNN-NINA) – The health minister, announced suspension of all schools and universities until Mar 7, to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Jaafar Sadiq Allawi, said, he ordered the suspension of schools and universities, as well as cinemas, cafes, clubs, and other gathering spots, from Feb 27 to Mar 7.

The decision also prohibits Iraqis from travelling to countries where COVID-19 has appeared, except for official delegations and diplomatic missions, said the minister, who heads a crisis group, tasked with preventing the spread of the disease in the country.

In addition, travellers from Kuwait and Bahrain are banned from entering Iraq until further notice.

Recently, Iraqi authorities have taken a series of precautionary measures, to prevent the spread of the disease, after five cases were confirmed in the provinces of Najaf and Kirkuk.– NNN-NINA
