Lebanese PM-Designate Says, This Week “Decisive” For Government Formation

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Jan 30 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanese Prime Minister-designate, Saad Hariri, said that, this week will be “decisive” for the government formation in Lebanon.

“This week will be decisive whether positively or negatively, and the situation will become clearer in the coming two days,” Hariri told reporters, following a meeting of his Future Movement’s political bloc.

Hariri did not specify what options he will opt for, if a government is not formed imminently.

Lebanon has been struggling to form a government since Hariri was designated prime minister in May. The formation of a government has been facing various hurdles, mainly differences among parties over the representation in the new government.

As the government formation has entered its ninth month of deadlock, Hariri is apparently left with three options: form a new government, reactivate the caretaking government, or step aside.– NNN-NNA
