Man shoots dead ex-wife, injures another in a shopping mall in Bangkok

BANGKOK, Feb 19 (NNN-BERNAMA) — A man killed his ex-wife and wounded another in a shooting at a shopping mall here Tuesday. 

In the incident around 3.15 pm (local time), the gunman stormed into a beauty clinic at the Century The Movie Plaza near Victory Monument  in Ratchadewi District and fired at least seven shots at his 28-year-old ex-wife, killing her.

Another 31-year old woman at the clinic suffered injuries and was rushed to a hospital. 

The gunman is still at large.

Chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau,  Lt. Gen. Pakkapong Pongpetra said the gunman and the woman were married for 10 years with a child and they just got divorced on February 13.

“The motive was personal problems and jealousy… It is not a copycat incident,” he told reporters after visiting the scene  today. 

The shooting come less than two weeks after the Feb 8 shooting rampage in Nakhon Ratchasima in which a Thai soldier Sergeant Major Jakrapanth Thomma, 32, killed 29 people including police and army officers and wounded 58 others at the Terminal 21 Shopping Mall in the city centre. 

He was shot dead by security forces after after being holed up for more than 12 hours at the mall.
