Oman Hosts Forum To Boost Information Technology In GCC Countries

MUSCAT, Feb 18 (NNN-ONA) – The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Statistical Forum, kicked off on Monday, in the Omani capital, Muscat, serving as a platform to boost information technology of the GCC countries.

The two-day forum, themed “Smart Data,” is hosted by the Omani National Centre for Statistics and Information, in cooperation with the GCC Statistical Centre.

Statistical and information agencies from the GCC countries, international and regional organisations, and a number of private sector institutions took part.

The forum discussed topics, including big data, artificial intelligence, electronic payment, among others.

Technology opened wide horizons for the statistical centres and agencies, to develop the statistical work, said Khalifa bin Abdullah Al-Barwani, CEO of the Omani National Centre for Statistics and Information.

On the sideline of the forum, an exhibition was held to display pioneering products and technology of statistical institutions and companies of the GCC countries.– NNN-ONA
