Sri Lankan PM Visits India

NEW DELHI, Feb 8 (NNN-PTI) – Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa, arrived here on Friday, on a four-day state visit to India, officials said.

Rajapaksa was received by junior human resources development minister, Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre, at the airport in New Delhi.

Rajapaksa will hold talks with Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Saturday (today) and will also call on President, Ram Nath Kovind.

This is the first visit of Rajapaksa abroad, after he took office as prime minister of Sri Lanka in Nov last year. He is leading a high-level delegation to India.

“A host of issues will come up for discussion, including details of projects to be taken up under a fresh 450- million U.S. dollar line of credit, announced by India during President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s visit to India last Nov,” state broadcaster All India Radio said.

Reports said, the two sides are expected to discuss key areas under the defence and maritime security initiatives.– NNN-PTI
