WASHINGTON, Jan29 (NNN-AGENCIES) – The U.S. military recovered remains of two personnel of U.S. Air Force aircraft, that crashed in Afghanistan.

“The remains were found near the crash site, treated with dignity and respect by the local Afghan community, in accordance with their culture,” according to a U.S. Forces Afghanistan statement. “The cause of the crash remains under investigation, however there are no indications the crash was caused by enemy fire.”

Pending positive identification and in accordance with the Defence department’s policy, the names of the service members are withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification.

After the U.S forces recovered the flight data recorder, they destroyed the remnants of the aircraft.
