5.4-Magnitude Quake Strikes, Off Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture

TOKYO, Japan, Jan 29 (NNN-NHK) – An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4, on Wednesday (today), struck off Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The temblor occurred at 8:39 a.m. local time, with its epicentre at a latitude of 27.2 degrees north, and a longitude of 126.7 degrees east, and at a depth of 30 km.

The quake logged 2 in some parts of Okinawa Prefecture, on the Japanese seismic intensity scale, which peaks at 7.

So far no tsunami warning has been issued.– NNN-NHK
