Peru, world’s leading culinary destination for eighth consecutive year

MUSCAT (Oman), Dec 2 (NNN-ANDINA) — The World Travel Awards (WTA), known as the Oscars of the travel industry, have named Peru as the World’s Leading Culinary Destination for the 8th consecutive year.

The announcement was made during the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony at the landmark Royal Opera House in Muscat (Oman), where the elite of the travel industry gathered to find out who among them had been crowned the finest in the world.

During the event, the Inca country was awarded another accolade: the World’s Leading Cultural Destination

Similarly, Machu Picchu was named —for the third time in a row— the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction

The Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) noted that this is not the first time that Peru has been awarded the top prize in these categories, being the Peruvian gastronomy the most recognized for eight consecutive years.

The World Travel Awards (WTA) event was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.

Today, the WTA brand is recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.

Each year, WTA covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to recognize and celebrate individual and collective success within each key geographical region.

WTA gala ceremonies are widely regarded as the best networking opportunities in the travel industry, attended by government and industry leaders, luminaries and international print and broadcast media. — NNN-ANDINA
