Lebanese Caretaker PM Withdraws Candidacy For Premiership

BEIRUT, Nov 27 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, has withdrawn his candidacy to be reappointed as prime minister, his office said.

Hariri said that, he was falsely accused of being responsible for the delay in the formation of a new government.

Hariri added that, he has been trying to propose solutions for the government formation, but some political parties were misleading public opinion, by giving the impression that he won’t accept any cabinet, headed by any other prime minister.

Lebanon has been witnessing nationwide protests for the past 41 days, which led to the resignation of Hariri’s cabinet.

Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, has so far failed to start parliamentary consultations, to appoint a new prime minister for the formation of a new cabinet, while the country is facing pressing economic and financial issues that need to be tackled urgently.– NNN-NNA
