Brazilian Federal Court Orders Disclosure Of Environment Minister’s Bank, Tax Records

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov 24 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – A Brazilian federal court in Sao Paulo ordered the disclosure of the bank and tax records of Environment Minister, Ricardo Salles.

The disclosure was granted, as part of an investigation carried out by the Sao Paulo Prosecution Office, into the suspected illicit enrichment of the minister, during his tenure as environment secretary of Sao Paulo state.

The rise in Salles’ income from 1.4 million to 8.8 million reals (333,000 to two million U.S. dollars) was considered incompatible with his earnings, from 2012 to 2018.

The minister declared that he had stopped working as a lawyer and worked as a politician full time, during that period.

The Brazilian Environment Ministry released a statement, saying that, the minister does not fear the disclosure of his bank and tax records, as all of his revenues and assets were properly declared to the authorities.– nnn-prensa latina
