Fresno shooting: Four dead and six injured at football party after ‘gunman sneaks into yard and opens fire’

Four people were died and six injured after a shooting at a football party in Fresno, California

FRESNO (California, US), Nov 18 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Four people were shot dead and six injured after a gunman sneaked into a garden football party in California Sunday night and opened fire, police say.

A huge manhunt is underway for several possible suspects after the shooting in Fresno on the city’s southeast side.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 6pm local time to reports of multiple gunshots.

The suspect or suspects fled the scene and police were combing the neighbourhood for witnesses and possible security camera footage.

Fresno Police Deputy Chief Michael Reid told the Fresno Bee and the KSEE/KGPE TV stations that 10 people were shot, with three people being found dead in the backyard. A fourth victim died at the hospital.

Police say six others are expected to survive and are recovering at the hospital.

Lt Bill Dooley described it as a “mass casualty shooting”.

“What we do know is that this was a gathering, a family and friend gathering in the backyard,” Dooley said.

“Everyone was watching football this evening when unknown suspects approached the residence, snuck into the backyard and opened fire.”

It was at least the second fatal gun attack Sunday in southeast Fresno. A man in his 20s was shot to death early Sunday at a home in another part of the city.

Police have not said whether the incidents could be connected. — NNN-AGENCIES
