UN Envoy Inspects Yemen’s Hodeidah

SANAA, Nov 6 (NNN-SABA) – The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, Lise Grande, inspected situations in the Yemeni besieged port city of Hodeidah on Tuesday.

During her visit, Grande held separate meetings with officials from both warring parties, to discuss means to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid, according to officials from Yemen’s internationally-recognised government and its foe, Houthi group in the port city.

A first aid convoy reached Durayhimi district last month, according to the World Food Programme.

The delivery came after the UN cease-fire monitoring mission in Hodeidah completed building control points in four front lines in the south and east of the port city, in accordance with a UN-sponsored deal, reached between the Yemeni warring parties, in Stockholm.

Iran-allied Houthi militias have control much of Hodeidah, while the Saudi-backed Yemeni government troops have advanced to the southeastern districts.

The cease-fire deal was seen as the first phase towards achieving a comprehensive political solution to end the civil war in Yemen.– NNN-SABA
