19 Dead, 22 Injured After Truck Plunges Into Northern Philippine Ravine

MANILA, Nov 1 (NNN-PNA) – Nineteen people were killed and 22 others injured, when a flatbed truck, carrying passengers, fell into a ravine in the mountainous northern Philippine Apayao province, on Thursday night, police said today (Friday).

Police said, the crash happened around 7.00 p.m. local time, while the truck was travelling from Kalinga province to nearby Apayao province.

Police said, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, while negotiating a slippery road, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a ravine.

The victims, who were mostly elderly, were headed back to their village in Conner town, after collecting cash and seeds assistance from the government, when the accident happened, police said.– NNN-PNA
