Public Consultation on the Proposed Guideline in Relation to Short-Term Residential Accommodation

PETALING JAYA, Oct 9 (Bernama) — A draft guideline has been developed to regulate Short-Term Residential Accommodation (STRA) activities using digital platformssuch as Airbnb, Agoda, and Booking.com to name a few. This draft guideline is a collaborative effort by the Technical Working Group (TWG) co-chaired by Local Government Department (JKT) and Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), facilitated by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) and involvement of relevant stakeholders.

The draft guideline has six components, which are; (1) covering the licensing of hosts and agents, (2) licensing of platforms, (3) number of days that STRA can operate, (4) fire safety requirement, (5) managing public nuisance, and (6) taxation.
