Thailand To Host RCEP Ministerial Meeting

BANGKOK, Oct 9 (NNN-TNA) – Thailand will host a ministerial meeting on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) on Saturday, in Bangkok, the country’s Ministry of Commerce said.

The Trade Negotiations Department, under the Thai Commerce Ministry, said that, following the 28th round of RCEP negotiations last month, in Da Nang, Vietnam, Thailand will host a meeting of negotiators on Thursday and Friday, and the 9th RCEP ministerial-level meeting on Saturday.

“In the 28th round of RCEP meetings in Da Nang, we have assessed and deliberated many chapters of the RCEP draft agreement,” said Auramon Supthaweethum, director-general of the Trade Negotiations Department, adding, “this time in Bangkok, we will consider the remaining seven out of 20 chapters left.”

RCEP negotiations were launched in 2012 and participating countries include 10 member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and six Asia-Pacific countries with which ASEAN has free trade agreements – Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand.– NNN-TNA
