Dhaka Attaches “High Importance” To Sino-Bangla Relations

DHAKA, Sept 28 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladesh attaches high importance to Sino-Bangla relations, and is keen to further cement ties with China, and continuously push the partnership to a new high, said Bangladesh Education Minister, Dipu Moni, on Friday.

At the opening ceremony of a joint exhibition for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Moni said, “I extend my heartiest felicitations and warmest greetings to the friendly people of China and to its government.”

She said, her government attaches “high importance to its relations with China, based on the fact that the foundation of this relationship was laid, on the visits of Bangladeshi founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to China in 1952, and in 1957.”

“Bangladesh has been constantly supporting One China policy, and continues to extend unequivocal support to core issues on China in global arena,” said Moni, who served Bangladesh as foreign minister, from 2009 to 2013.

She further said, “We appreciate continued support of China to Bangladesh so that Bangladesh can achieve its dreams of becoming middle income nation by 2021 and developed country by 2041.”

According to the senior politician, Dhaka’s largest International conference centre and eight friendship bridges across Bangladesh, proudly stand to testimony epitome of Bangladesh-China close friendship.

“We are very proud of our friendship with China and hope that with this friendship we will be able to build a better, prosperous country and better contribute to peaceful neighbourhood.”

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Li Jiming, Bangladeshi State Minister for Cultural Affairs, KM Khalid and the Bangladesh-China Friendship Centre’s (BCFC) President, Delwar Hossain, among others, were present at the ceremony.– NNN-BSS
