Released British Oil Tanker Still In Iranian Port

TEHRAN, Sept 25 (NNN-IRNA) – British oil tanker, Stena Impero, released by Iran, hasn’t left the Iranian port yet, an Iranian official said, Tuesday.

The oil tanker “has been released on bail by Iran’s judicial authorities, but despite some reports, it is still in the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas,” Mohammad Rastad, head of Iran’s Ports and Shipping Organisation, told Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA).

The vessel can leave Iran’s waters anytime it gets ready to leave, Rastad was quoted as saying.

However, the dossier of the vessel will remain open in Iran’s judiciary, unless the damages that it caused are compensated, he added.

Iran detained the Stena Impero on July 19, alleging that it had violated maritime regulations while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, Iran already released seven crew members of the oil tanker.– NNN-IRNA
