Iraq’s Hashd Shaabi Forces Shoot Down Unknown Drone In Eastern Iraq

BAGHDAD, Sept 12 (NNN-NINA) – Paramilitary Hashd Shaabi forces, on Wednesday, said that, they shot down an unknown drone, which tried to bomb the Iraqi forces, in Iraq’s eastern province of Diyala.

The Hashd Shaabi successfully shot down the drone after they discovered it above the area, the statement added.

The statement could not identify the drone and did not give further details about the wreckage.

Earlier in the day, the Hashd Shaabi forces opened fire at unknown drones, flying above one of its headquarters in Iraq’s central province of Salahudin and forced the drones to withdraw to unknown destination, according to a Hashd Shaabi statement.

During the past weeks, a series of explosions took place in Hashd Shaabi arms depots in central and western Iraq. The incidents were mainly believed to be attributed to attacks by unknown aircraft.

The repeated explosions on Hashd Shaabi arms depots pushed Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, who is also commander-in-chief of the Iraqi forces, to order in mid-Aug, that all military flights, including reconnaissance aircraft, are prohibited from using Iraqi airspace without his permission.– NNN-NINA
