Regional Forum On Environment Kicks Off In Kuwait

KUWAIT, Sept 10 (NNN-KUNA) – The ninth Regional Conservation Forum (RCF) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Regional Office for West Asia (ROWA), kicked off on Monday in Kuwait City.

The forum is co-organised by IUCN ROWA and the Environment Public Authority of Kuwait.

Mariam Al-Aqeel, Kuwait’s Minister of State for Economic Affairs, said at the forum that, it is imperative to ensure protection of the environment, given the fact that it is among the most enduring signals of humanity.

Kuwait is eager to work closely with global bodies, including the United Nations, in efforts to guarantee a healthy and sustainable environment, she noted, adding that, cooperation is the most reliable strategy to ensure that environmental goals “ultimately come to fruition.”

Jordan’s Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Ibrahim Shahahdeh, pointed out that, it is incumbent upon national governments to throw their weight behind environment conservation efforts to guarantee the betterment of future generations.

According to the Director-General of Kuwait’s Environment Public Authority, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, more than 100 officials are assembled at the forum, with the common goal of protecting the environment, particularly in Asia.NNN-KUNA
