Oman Suffers Over 430,000 Cyber Attacks In 2018: Official

MUSCAT, Oman, Sept 10 (NNN-ONA) – Omani cyberspace suffered more than 432,978 cyber attacks in 2018, an Omani official announced, Monday.

Aziza Bint Sultan Al Rashdi, director of cybersecurity services, of the Omani National Computer Emergency Readiness Team (OCERT), released the figures, during the National Cyber Security Drill, which kicked off on Monday.

The OCERT also dealt with 1,839 security incidents, during 2017, compared with 1,744 in 2016, according to the official.

The National Cyber Security Drill, with the participation of more than 72 institutions, aims at enhancing the readiness of government institutions, to respond to security incidents in cyberspace.– NNN-ONA
