Guadalajara, Mexico, Aug 25 – Dancers participate in a Guinness Record attempt for the world’s largest folk dance in Guadalajara, Mexico. Nearly 900 people twirled and stamped their feet to mariachi music in the Mexican city of Guadalajara to set a Guinness record for the world’s biggest folk dance. Searing heat failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the 882 men and women, who turned in traditional costumes featuring vivid embroidery and bright colors to break the previous record, also set in Guadalajara in 2011 with 457 participants. When Modi asked reporters to let the two speak in private, Trump joked that the Indian Prime Minister speaks very good English, but doesn’t want to talk. Quang Nam, Vietnam, Aug 27 – People harvest birds’ nest in a cave on Cu Lao Cham Island in central Quang Nam Province. A rescue centre has been set up for the first time in Mui Dua Cave on Cu Lao Cham Island in an attempt to rescue thousands of baby swallows which fall from their nests each year. This is an effort by authorities in the central province of Quang Nam to hold back the severe decline in the number of edible Vietnamese Salangane nests, which are considered a highly nutritious delicacy in Vietnam (known as yen sao), in recent years. Cu Lao Cham Island is known as the kingdom of birds’ nests in Vietnam. Wild swallows often build their nests in the caves on the island, bringing the high output of more than 1,300 kilogrammes of raw birds’ nest per year. Photo courtesy of VNA

Bengaluru, India, Aug 28 – Pictures of the lunar surface were taken on August 23 by the Terrain Mapping Camera-2 of Chandrayaan-2 which is currently orbiting the Moon, has captured some more images of the lunar surface showing several craters. The Indian Space Research Organisation said in a statement that the photos captured by the lunar spacecraft are those of craters Somerfeld, Kirkwood, Jackson, Mach, Korolev, Mitra, Plaskett, Rozhdestvenskiy and Hermite. Damascus, Syria, Aug 28 – People inspecting destroyed buildings after airstrikes hit the town of Ihsem, in Idlib province, Syria. Government forces have been on the offensive since April 30, during which they have captured all rebel-held areas in the adjoining Hama province. The Russian military says it will help reconstruction efforts in a town in northwestern Syria that has been reclaimed by the Syrian government. Maj. Gen. Ravil Muginov said in remarks released by the Russian Defense Ministry Tuesday that the military’s Reconciliation Center has delivered humanitarian supplies to Khan Sheikhoun, which was captured by the Syrian army last week.
