Seoul, Aug 5 – South Korea and the United States will stage joint military drills as scheduled despite warnings from North Korea, the South Korean military authority said Sunday. The joint drills will begin Monday with a computer-simulated command post exercise (CPX) to cope with any emergency on the Korean Peninsula and last for half a month, according to the authority. Hanoi, Vietnam, Aug 5 – Nguyen Khanh Linh, a former student in the physics class at Lam Son High School for the Gifted in the central province of Thanh Hoa, won a gold medal for Vietnam at the 50th International Physics Olympiad. Linh outperformed 360 contestants from 78 countries and regions to win a gold medal for Việt Nam at the 50th International Physics Olympiad held in Tel Aviv, Israel from July 7 to 15. New Dehli, Aug 8 – A woman touches a life size portrait of former Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj displayed on a vehicle in which her body was brought to the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters for people to pay their last respects, in New Delhi. Swaraj, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party died at a hospital Tuesday. She was 67. Swaraj, 67, passed away Tuesday night, Aug 6, 2019, after a massive cardiac arrest. Islamabad, Pakistan, Aug 9 – Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi addresses a news conference in Islamabad, Pakistan.
