Kuwait Dispatches Humanitarian Aid To Sudan For Flood Victims

KUWAIT, Aug 31 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), on Friday, dispatched humanitarian aid to Sudan, for flood victims there.

The flight, which carried 40 tonnes of food, arrived on Friday, at Khartoum International Airport.

The flight was sent, to help the people in Sudan, who suffered from floods, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Khartoum, Bassam Al-Qabandi, was quoted as saying.

“We are expecting the arrival of another plane here in Khartoum on Monday, carrying more humanitarian supplies for the victims,” he added.

KRCS Chairman, Hilal al-Sayer, said that the organisation will provide all necessary needs and aid, to support the people in Sudan, according to the report.

Sulaiman Abdul-Jabbar, acting undersecretary of Sudan’s health ministry, announced the death toll in the rains and floods rose to 62 people, with 98 others wounded.

A total of 35,850 families have been affected nationwide, he said, adding that, 22,676 houses completely collapsed.

Since the beginning of Aug, most states of Sudan have been struck by heavy rains, which caused many houses to collapse and many main roads cut off.– NNN-KUNA
