Wong delivers gold medal in 2019 Handisport Open in Paris

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 (NNN–BERNAMA) – National paralympic long jumper athlete, Jonathan Wong Kar Gee celebrated the 62nd National Day with a bang after winning the gold medal at 2019 Handisport Open World Grand Prix Para Athletics Tournament in Paris, France on Friday (Saturday in Malaysia).

The 28-year-old Sabahan posted a distance of 7.03 metres to win the gold medal in the T11/12 category (vision impairment) in the tournament held at the Paris Charlety Stadium, according to the tournament website www.handisport-open-paris.org.

The distance, however, was a far cry from his personal best of 7.22m set in China Open in May last year.

A total of 350 paralympic athletes from 40 countries are taking part in the three-day tournament, which began on Aug 28.
