Egyptian, U.S. Fm’s Discuss Mutual Relations, Regional Issues

CAIRO, Egypt, Aug 20 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, and his U.S. counterpart, Mike Pompeo, discussed bilateral relations and a number of regional issues of common interest.

In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said, the two ministers discussed, during a phone conversation, ways of boosting cooperation between Egypt and the United States, in various fields of common interests.

The two also confirmed the continuation of close coordination between the two countries, in the field of combating and eliminating terrorism, the statement said.

They exchanged views on various crises in the Middle East, topped by the Palestinian issue, while Shoukry stressed the need to reach a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, on the basis of a two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.

The talks also dealt with the crises in Syria, Yemen and Libya, as well as, the developments in the Gulf region, according to the statement.

Shoukry outlined Egypt’s efforts to realise stability and security and reach peaceful solutions that achieve the desired stability in the region.– NNN-MENA
