Lebanese Customs Authorities Foil Four Smuggling Attempts

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Aug 18 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanese customs authorities, stopped on Saturday, four smuggling operations, on the Aboudiya crossing border, in northern Lebanon.

Smugglers were trying to transport tobacco, medicines, detergents and vegetables, illegally into Lebanon.

The smuggled products were referred to judicial bodies, under the offence of money laundering.

The Lebanese government has been adopting strict measures, aimed at controlling the borders, and preventing smuggling, in a bid to protect the country’s economy.

Lebanese Finance Minister, Ali Hassan Khalil, said that, there are more than 124 illegal border crossings, on the Lebanese-Syrian border.– NNN-NNA
