Yemeni Houthis, European Diplomats Meet In Tehran: Report

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug 18 (NNN-IRNA) – Yemen’s Houthi movement and diplomats of a number of European countries, recently held a meeting in the Iranian capital.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the movement and Iran, as well as, ambassadors of Britain, France, Germany, and Italy to Tehran.

During the meeting, the participants discussed Yemen’s ongoing crisis and emphasised that the conflict in Yemen should only be settled through political approaches.

They urged immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people, according to the report.

The participants also called for full implementation of an agreement, reached in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, in 2018, between representatives from the movement and the exiled Yemeni government of Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, about the UN-mediated truce.

Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen are in bloody conflict with the Saudi-led Arab military coalition, which supports the exiled Yemeni government for more than four years.

Iran accused the Saudi-led coalition of “plots” to split Yemen.

On Tuesday, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said that, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, who have committed “grave crimes” in Yemen, are seeking to “disintegrate” Yemen.– NNN-IRNA
