HANOI, Jan 21 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam’s rice exports are projected at 7.73 million tonnes this year, local daily An Ninh Thu Do, reported today, citing the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
About 75 percent of the export volume, or nearly 5.8 million tonnes, is expected to be high-quality and fragrant rice, the report said.
Rice exports in the first half of this year are forecast to reach over four million tonnes, mainly concentrated in Jan, Mar and Apr.
Exports in the second half of the year are estimated at approximately 3.7 million tonnes, peaking in Jul, Aug and Sept.
Vietnam exported 8.06 million tonnes of rice last year, generating total export revenue of 4.1 billion U.S. dollars, according to the ministry.– NNN-VNA
