Kazakhstan Reroutes Oil Exports As Caspian Pipeline Consortium Faces Restrictions

ALMATY, Jan 17 (KTA) – Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company, KazMunayGas, rerouted about 300,000 tonnes of oil in Dec last year, amid restrictions on supplies through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), the company’s press service said yesterday.

The oil was redirected via alternative export routes, operated by national oil transporter KazTransOil, as well as, through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, with onward deliveries to countries including Germany. Part of the shipments was also rerouted to the Russian ports of Novorossiysk and Ust-Luga.

With restrictions on oil intake through the CPC still in place, including those linked to drone attacks, diversion measures will continue this month, the company said.

It also noted that oil shipments from the port of Aktau to the BTC pipeline totalled 1.3 million tonnes last year, and are projected to reach up to 1.6 million tonnes this year.– NNN-KTA
