Kyrgyzstan’s Rail Freight Volume Reached Record High Last Year

BISHKEK, Jan 14 (NNN-KNA) – The volume of rail freight transport in Kyrgyzstan last year, exceeded 10 million tonnes, reaching a record high in the history of the country’s railway system, the state railway company, Kyrgyz Temir Zholu, reported yesterday.

According to the report, Kyrgyzstan’s average annual rail freight volume had remained at around seven million tonnes for many years.

However, a steady growth trend has been observed since 2022, and by the end of 2024, rail freight transport reached 9.2 million tonnes, the report said.

The growth in transportation volume is driven by a number of factors related both to production activity and to the development of railway corridors and routes, it said.– NNN-KNA
