Residents Ordered To Evacuate As Wildfire Breaks Out In S. Korea

SEOUL, Jan 10 (NNN-YONHAP) – Residents were ordered to evacuate today, as a wildfire broke out in south-eastern South Korea.

The fire started at about 3:14 p.m. local time (0614 GMT), on a mountain in Uiseong county, some 180 km south-east of the capital, Seoul.

An evacuation order was issued for nearby residents, who were instructed to take shelter at a gymnasium.

The forestry authorities mobilised helicopters and firefighting equipment, to extinguish the fire.– NNN-YONHAP
