KABUL, Jan 6 (NNN-BNA) – Afghan authorities inaugurated a 22.75 Megawatt solar power plant, on the eastern edge of Kabul, today, to help solve the power shortage in the country.
The government is committed to building more power plants from domestic sources, including water, coal, solar and wind resources, to achieve self-sufficiency in the electricity field, General Director of Breshna Shirkat or Electricity Company, Abdul Bari Umar, said in his opening remarks.
Marking a significant achievement towards reducing dependence on imported electricity, the facility, constructed at a cost of 18.2 million U.S. dollars by a Turkish company within more than a year, would provide stable electricity to more than 23,000 households.– NNN-BNA
