NEW YORK, Jan 6 (NNN-TELESUR) — The Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) condemned the imperialist act of aggression carried out by the United States against Venezuela, which occurred in the early hours of Jan 3, with attacks directed against civilian and military targets.
The official statement warned that such actions “flagrantly violate the purposes and principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, as well as the norms of international law.”
It emphasized that this “act of war” jeopardizes both regional/international stability and the fundamental right to life of Venezuela’s citizens.
NAM demanded “the immediate cessation of all hostilities” against the South American nation, as well as full respect for its sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence, and inalienable right to self-determination.
The Coordinating Bureau reiterated its “full solidarity with the people and Government of Venezuela” and emphasized that “military solutions are not viable ways to address any issue that may be a matter of concern among members of the international community.
