Dense Fog Disrupted Flight Services At Bangladesh’s Main Airport

DHAKA, Jan 3 (NNN-BSS) – Dense fog enveloped the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, yesterday, disrupting flight services to and from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

In a notice yesterday afternoon, the airport authority said that, nine flights were rerouted for safety, due to heavy fog.

Flight operations at the airport resumed at about 2:00 p.m. (local time) after a lengthy suspension of air traffic.

The fog was accompanied by icy winds, exacerbating the impact of a severe cold wave, affecting Dhaka and other regions.

Omar Faruque, a meteorologist of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, said that, the country’s lowest temperature yesterday was recorded at 8.0 degrees Celsius, in Jashore district, some 164 km from Dhaka.– NNN-BSS
