KABUL, Dec 29 (NNN-BNA) — The Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with leading domestic aid agencies, to provide assistance to returnees and internally displaced families, the ministry said in a statement, yesterday.
The agreements, valued at 515,700 U.S. dollars in total, are expected to benefit over 868,000 returnee and displaced individuals, according to the statement.
The aid agencies will deliver essential services to returnees at a temporary camp, near the Torkham border crossing, in eastern Nangarhar province, and create employment opportunities in Nangarhar, as well as, the western provinces of Herat, Farah, and Badghis.
On Thursday, the ministry said that, 27,867 Afghan families, or a total of 241,780 people, had returned to the country from Iran, Pakistan, and Türkiye, over the past month.
The Afghan government has urged refugees abroad to return home, while calling on local and international organisations to invest in the country and create jobs.– NNN-BNA
