Yemen’s Houthi Rebels Deny Attempted Attack On Commercial Ship In Red Sea

SANAA, Yemen, July 9 (NNN-SABA) – Yemen’s Houthi rebels, on Monday, denied reports that they launched an attempted attack on a commercial ship in the Red Sea, the group’s spokesman said in a statement.

Reports “about trying today to target a ship in the Red Sea by our armed forces is completely baseless,” spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam, said.

Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said that its naval forces foiled an attempted attack on a ship in the Red Sea, coalition spokesman, Turki Al-Maliki, said, in a statement reported by Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television.

Al-Maliki did not provide further details, or the name of the ship.

Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition against the Iran-allied Houthi rebels in Yemen for more than four years, in support of the exiled internationally recognised government of Yemeni President, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.– NNN-SABA
