BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec 3 (NNN-PELITA) – Brunei recognises the increasing importance of understanding the nation’s mineral potential, and the opportunities for sustainable downstream and midstream industries, a Brunei government official said.
Hajah Sarimah Haji Awang, an official of the Ministry of Development, said, such efforts are crucial to diversifying the country’s economy, beyond the oil and gas sector, while supporting informed policy decisions aligned with Brunei Vision 2035.
She made the remarks at the 4th ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund technical workshop on critical mineral management.
According to the ministry, the transition towards clean energy is driving a surge in global demand for critical minerals. Renewable energy technologies require significantly larger quantities of minerals, compared to traditional fossil-fuel systems.– NNN-PELITA
