ADDIS ABABA, Dec 1 (NNN-XINHUA) — The Ethiopian government has launched the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy, aiming to foster the integration of technology across all economic sectors and digitize the country’s economy.
The Ethiopian Council of Ministers, the country’s executive body, approved the five-year national digital transformation strategy on Saturday to accelerate economic growth and improve public services, the Office of the Ethiopian Prime Minister announced in a statement.
The strategy aims to bolster the country’s technological capacity, expand critical infrastructure, and create new socio-economic opportunities for citizens, mainly for the country’s burgeoning youth population, the statement said.
The new initiative has been introduced as a successor to the initial Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy, which was launched in June 2020.
The Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology said recently that the Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy was “100 percent successful,” and laid the foundation for fostering a technology-led and knowledge-based digital economy.
“Following the successful completion of the Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy, which focused on technology-led innovation and modernization, we have now unveiled the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy, which will strengthen service delivery through greater use of machine inputs and automation,” Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said. — NNN-XINHUA
