Freezing rain in Latvia triggers surge in injuries, travel disruption
Icy roads throughout Latvia

RIGA, Nov 30 (NNN-XINHUA) — Freezing rain has turned roads and sidewalks into ice in Latvia’s Riga, causing a spike in injuries and hospital admissions.

The latvian environment, geology and meteorology centre issued yellow and later orange warnings as icing spread across highways, streets and power lines, while trains on several lines suffered major delays.

The hospital of traumatology and orthopaedics reported on Saturday many patients with fractures and sprains from falls, especially among seniors. — NNN-XINHUA
