Afghanistan Incinerated Nearly 500 Million Worn-Out Afghani  Banknotes

KABUL, Nov 29 (NNN-BNA) – Afghanistan’s central bank, known as Da Afghanistan Bank, announced that, it has collected and incinerated nearly 500 million afghani (over seven million U.S. dollars) of worn-out banknotes, in the southern Kandahar province, yesterday.

According to an official statement, the collected notes, spanning denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000 afghani, were gathered from the southern region of the country. The banknotes were subsequently burned in Kandahar, in the presence of a designated government delegation to ensure transparency during the disposal process.

Da Afghanistan Bank emphasised that, the removal of damaged currency is part of its ongoing mandate, to maintain the integrity and usability of the national currency.– NNN-BNA
