Cuba and BRICS strengthen alliance at FIHAV 2025



HAVANA, Nov 27 (NNN-ACN) — The forum on economic integration mechanisms, “Cuba and its Global Alliances,” opened its sessions within the framework of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and organized by BioCubaFarma.

According to BioCubaFarma’s Facebook page, Eduardo Martinez Diaz, Deputy Prime Minister, delivered the opening address and emphasized the forum’s potential for identifying new business opportunities and cooperation projects in strategic sectors such as health, biotechnology, and agriculture.

In the panel on the functioning of the BRICS, Carlos Miguel Pereira, Director of Bilateral Affairs at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the relationship with the member states of this integration mechanism for business exchange.

Huan Xin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Cuba, emphasized the historical cooperation ties between the two nations and rejected the impact of the United States’ economic, commercial, and financial blockade.

Also in attendance were the ambassadors of Brazil, India, and South Africa, who acknowledged Cuba’s presence and its potential as an associate member of the bloc.

Santiago Dueñas Carrera, vice president of BioCubaFarma, presented the results of the Cuban biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry under cooperation agreements with the BRICS countries.

The forum continued Tuesday and Wednesday with an agenda focused on business opportunities arising from strategic alliances.

Monday’s session included a panel on ALBA-TCP and another on the Eurasian Economic Union and ALADI.

Wednesday was dedicated entirely to alliances with the BRICS countries, with presentations on the future of global agriculture and business opportunities in health and investment, as well as business networking sessions. — NNN-ACN
