KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Malaysia’s e-commerce revenue for the first nine months of the year reached 937.5 billion ringgit (226.67 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 1.9 percent, as compared to the same period in 2024, official data showed, yesterday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement that, the highest e-commerce revenue was recorded in the second quarter at 313.8 billion ringgit, while the third quarter registered a marginal moderation to 312.6 billion ringgit.
Overall, the information and communication technology (ICT) economy contributed 23.4 percent or 451.3 billion ringgit to Malaysia’s economy in 2024, up from 429.3 billion ringgit in 2023.
It noted that, Malaysia is experiencing a significant leap in digital transformation, driven by steady e-commerce growth, the expanding contribution of the ICT industry, increasing ICT usage across businesses, households and individuals, and the strengthening of national communication infrastructure.– NNN-BERNAMA
