Africa: CAF awards Tanzanian Pres Samia for her significant contribution to sports development

RABAT (Morocco), Nov 20 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decorated the Tanzanian President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, in recognition of her significant contribution to the development of sports, particularly football in the country.

The award was received on behalf of Samia by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports who is also the Government Spokesperson—Gerson Msigwa, during a ceremony held in Rabat, Morocco.

The event was also attended by the President of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and CAF Executive Committee Member, Wallace Karia, as well as the Chairman of African Clubs and President of Young Africans, Hersi Said.

According to CAF, the award was presented to Samia as a gesture of appreciation for her outstanding efforts during her tenure, including the construction of sports infrastructure such as major stadiums, hosting the CHAN tournament, and preparations for hosting the AFCON 2027 competition.

Additionally, her leadership has seen major achievements in football, including the improvement of the Tanzania Premier League, which now ranks fifth in Africa, the development of women’s football, and expanded efforts to promote youth football in the country. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
