Kazakhstan To Establish National AI Platform Under New Legislation

ALMATY, Nov 18 (NNN-KNA) – Kazakh President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, yesterday, signed a law that would allow the country to establish a national artificial intelligence (AI) platform, the presidential press service reported.

According to the report, the platform will be used for the development, training and pilot operation of platform software products and AI models for limited periods.

The new law establishes principles of responsibility and accountability, under which owners, holders, and users bear obligations commensurate with their roles in operating AI systems.

The law prohibits certain functions, including the use of subconscious, manipulative or similar methods, as well as, the collection and processing of personal data, in violation of personal data protection legislation.

It also establishes a mandatory requirement to label synthetic content generated with AI.

Tokayev also signed amendments to existing laws on AI and digitalisation, which regulate the circulation of unsecured digital assets within the country. Previously, the circulation of unsecured digital assets was permitted, only within the Astana International Financial Centre.– NNN-KNA
