VIENTIANE, Nov 16 (NNN-KPL) – The 12th National Games, Lao’s largest sporting event, officially opened yesterday, with a grand ceremony at the National Stadium in the Lao capital, Vientiane.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Atsaphangthong Siphandone, governor of Vientiane, emphasised that, the event serves as a platform for promoting public health, friendship, and national sportsmanship.
The opening ceremony also featured vibrant sectoral parades and cultural performances, including boat-racing demonstrations and Lao traditional dances.
The 12th National Games will run until Nov 25, featuring 33 sports, and involving 9,485 participants, including athletes, coaches, referees, technicians, and officials.– NNN-KPL
