Jordan’s King Visited Indonesia

JAKARTA, Nov 16 (NNN-ANTARA) – Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto, hosted Jordan’s King Abdullah II, in Jakarta on Friday, with Jakarta saying they discussed broadening defence and economic cooperation.

The Jordanian king, who hosted Prabowo in Amman, in Apr this year, was on a regional tour across several Asian countries including Singapore, Japan, Pakistan and Vietnam.

In Jakarta, Abdullah and Prabowo discussed bilateral ties and paths for greater collaboration in the fields of economy, defence and trade, according to Indonesian foreign minister, Sugiono.

They spoke about their decades-long friendship, which started when they both served in the military.

“As you know, I have an emotional bond with Jordan,” Prabowo said.

“I always remember fondly my years in Jordan. Therefore, it really gives me great pleasure to host you here in Indonesia,” he said.

Calling Prabowo his “brother” and decorating him with a Jordanian royal award, Abdullah hailed the president’s “determination to make the lives of your people much, much better.”

During his two-day visit, the Jordanian King also met with leaders of Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara Indonesia, according to Sugiono.

In April, Prabowo made a state visit to Amman, where both leaders witnessed the signing of memoranda of understanding in the fields of defence, agriculture, research and religious cooperation.– NNN-ANTARA
